It’s about Nina’s beautiful dark skin, wide nose, kinky hair, and unapologetic blackness passed off to someone that had to wait an ear black face and a prosthetic nose. It wasn’t the right representation and that’s the problem with Hollywood. Anyone that is a true fan of Nina Simone would understand why Zoe apologized. The documentary on Netflix “What happened, Miss Simone” gives you a taste as to why Zoe’s portrayal just wasn’t right.
