JK Rowling has a right to Harry Potter characters chibi I am a Disney Princess unless Hogwarts needs me shirt express her sincere opinion. Daniel Radcliffe has a right to express his sincere opinion. People hold different points of view on this subject – so let’s all grow up and stop accusing those with different views of committing some kind of thoughtcrime by lecturing them on the ‘correct way’ to think. Only those with a totalitarian mindset believe there is a ‘correct way’ to think which we must all conform to. I think this is basically a reflection of the fact that most people in the public eye are running scared. I can understand it in away. These days, one opinion that the keyboard warriors on social media (and it IS social media that’s the problem) don’t approve of can shatter a life and destroy a career. But it’s very sad nonetheless to see people joining the baying mob like this, essentially to ensure that they won’t be its next victim.

I’m sure Mr. Radcliffe’s gained a lot of support from some people. I hope it offsets the respect he will have lost with a lot of others. Good for him! I love her books but also recognize there are some issues with them and I highly disagree with her stance with the trans community. I really don’t care who identifies as what, which pronouns they (or ze) prefer, or what body parts they are packing underneath their neutral clothing. Just please do NOT identify ME by my period. I am a lot more than my menstrual cycle and it’s hard enough to combat (all) gender inequality without having someone refer to me by my biological process.
My name is a really good alternative. They do not hurt cis women – there are a lot of facts. They are more likely to be the subject of violence, discrimination, sexual abuse… The list goes on. Trans lives are not easy lives. Don’t make it harder for people to live that you’ve never met. Don’t make it easier for public people to say derogatory things online that enable discrimination. If you can’t care positively, try really hard not to care at all.
