Out of 60+ books, the In my dream world books are free and reading makes you thin shirt last of which was published 25 years ago, 6 have aged poorly and have been dropped by the publisher. If you grew up with one of them, own it, and want to read it to your kids, you still can. When they ask you about the Chinese man in Mulberry Street, you can explain it. Kids used to read Dick and Jane books, they’ve been phased out for over 40 years. It’s not a tragedy. The best young children’s author around!! All my sons learned to read on Dr. Suess’s books Years later, (they are now adults) they can still recite Cat in the Hat by heart I never grew tired of reading these ridiculous rhymes and imaginative stories!! I actually believe the world ended in 2012. We all laughed when it kept going after Dec 21st, 2012, but we misinterpreted what the world ending meant. There was a shift, in a decade look how different society has become. We are in a new world. A very strange one

I felt that people had gone too far too until I read the article about some of the imagery. If I Ran the Zoo sounds the worst. I am sure if he had the chance he would have changed them to be better. It was acceptable at the time they were written. They are not banning the books they are just not going to print those books anymore. I find it very interesting that we overanalyze children’s books now. I was an avid reader as a child (and still am as an adult). I read everything from fairy tales, Enid Blyton, adventure books, historical dramas, etc. You name it and I have probably read it. I have an appreciation of what is not a real but simple fantasy that is not to be taken seriously and have learned so much about life as it was all through various time periods. I consider myself a well-balanced and well-informed adult. Books are a form of entertainment but also impart knowledge and a greater understanding of life in general, both real and unreal. I believe we should place more focus on the very violent movies and video games that are produced these days and stop trying to overanalyze everything else.BBC
I’m starting to wonder whether all those books that I used to read to my children 25+ years ago that we’ve saved to read to future grandchildren should be thrown away. “Postman Pat”, “Thomas the Tank Engine” and “Fireman Sam”. They may now be considered offensive in some ways. Hang on, yes, we’re not supposed to refer to “fireMEN” are we? Is it “Firefighter Sam”. Not got the same ring to it. I jest, but seriously I will need to read through the books to make sure they’re ok. How things have changed, evolved, or whatever. At least we’ve still got some real books! The world has gone mad. Anyone can take offense at anything and all you need to do is scream louder than others. Why is everyone so frightened of being labeled. We all have strange characteristics. People tease you if you have freckles. If you have red hair. If you wear lederhosen. Utter rubbish. Peter pan will be next on the hit list for home invasion!…..he enters a Wendy’s room at night through a window !!! As for the big bad wolf, totally not cool that little red riding hood tells him he has, big eyes! Big ears! And a big nose ! a classic example of bullying at its finest!
